HEART WATCH (Armley Nr Leeds)
A cardiac rehabilitation programme for men and
women of any age who have suffered heart problems including coronary heart disease, angina, heart
attack, bypass, valve replacement and transplant surgery.
It also deals with adults with diabetes. Anyone diagnosed with cardiac disease or diabetes is eligible for
participation provided that a referral from a consultant, doctor or Phase 3 cardiac
rehabilitation programme can be obtained.

Specially designed for men and
women who have heart problems or are considered 'at risk'.
Exercises are gentle and progressive and take place in a safe, friendly and supportive environment

HEART CARE (The West Midlands Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit).
Each year, Heart Care helps hundreds of people recover from the trauma
of a heart attack or serious heart surgery. Rehabilitating the body and rebuilding confidence is
what Heart Care is all about. Heart Care
is based in Walsall, West Midlands. Patients have ready access to a doctor and medical
team. Additionally an after-care facility in Streetly services the north Birmingham area.

Denmead Body Focus (Hampshire)
Classes are for people who have had a heart attack or heart surgery and who have completed
a rehabilitation programme or who are advised to take regular exercise by their GP.
A referral from a GP or Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse is required.
Classes follow on from the hospital rehabilitation programme delivered by the Cardiac Rehab
team.

Bromley Myaction
MyAction is the first service of its kind in the UK to be set up following the results of EUROACTION -the largest ever European-wide study into family based cardiology prevention which set a new standard for preventive cardiology practice for both hospitals, and primary care.
Reflecting the results of the study, MyAction is a community based integrated service which will be held at The Spa Leisure Centre, targeted at people (and their families) who are either coronary patients or people at high risk of heart disease.
An in-house nurse will co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary team to advise on diet, lifestyle and well being, including increasing physical activity levels under expert medical supervision

Solihull Heart Support Group
Exercise classes for members who are either
heart patients and former heart patients. These are intended to be a natural follow-on
from the rehabilitation sessions run at local hospitals, and other heart patients such as angina
sufferers are also welcome to attend. The classes form phase 4 in the National Cardiac
Rehabilitation programme.
The classes have proved so successful that six separate classes are now run on a weekly basis.
Classes are only open to members of Solihull Heart Support Group and their partner/carers

Poole (Dorset)
Patients who have recently had a heart attack or cardiac surgery can now take part in special
community exercise classes to aid their rehabilitation thanks to a new partnership initiative
between the Borough of Pooles Leisure Services, Poole Heart Support Group and the Cardiac
Rehabilitation Unit at Poole Hospital.

BACR (The British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation)
A multidiscplinary body created to
represent and serve the interests of all professionals involved in the provision of cardiac rehablitation. All exercise
instructors sponsored by THROB for exercise classes have ubdergone BACR training and are suitably qualified. BACR is one
of the several bodies affiliated to the British Cardiac Society.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Supported by the BHF,
the National Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation has been launched by the British Heart Foundation, for quality
rehabilitation to be made available for all heart patients who need it. Sadly its database is not very useful as it only covers
NHS facilities and access to it is solely by postcode.
